Jack & Keiko Marshall
Missionaries in Japan
Jack and Jeri Marshall were missionaries in Japan for over 30 years. Coming back to the United States brought them to Oakhurst and to SVPC. While here they started a senior ministry at our church. Sierra Vista came alongside Jack when Jeri passed away from cancer. We also came alongside him as he reconnected with Keiko. Keiko came to the Lord through Jack and Jeri’s ministry in Japan and worked with them. Jack had heard that Keiko was in the United States, working on her MA in Missiology at Talbot School of Theology. They had lunch and the rest is history. After their marriage they worked with Japanese college students attending Fresno State. They continued working with Japanese students in Australia as well. Keiko’s family was in Japan so they decided to go to Japan and continue their ministry there.
Please see attached October 2015 newsletter as Jack shares the statistics of Christians among the Japanese population. It also describes a culture steeped in Shintoism, Buddhism, Confucianism and Daiosm that co-exist harmoniously.
The emphasis of their ministry has changed over the years. Today they have a Bible teaching ministry as the they feel the great need of seeing the Japanese Christians become strong in their faith and come to a place where they can teach others the doctrines of God’s Grace.
